Here's how I saved over $50 eating out in San Diego

San Diego has thousands (and I mean thousands) of amazing local restaurants for whatever it is you’re craving, but how does one even choose? I’m guilty of scrolling endlessly trying to find that one hidden gem that no one else is talking about – luckily, with Savorite, I don’t have to!

Today, I want to bring you along for my journey on how my friends and I saved over $50 eating out across our beautiful city of San Diego! Here’s how it went…

First stop: Moe Coffee

📍 Little Italy

First things first, coffee! Moe Coffee has several locations throughout San Diego, but we decided to head out to their cute little cafe in Little Italy. We went with an avocado toast – because how can you not start your day without one – an apple Danish pastry, a matcha tea and a latte with almond milk. With the total coming to just under $30, I was able to save $6 with Savorite.

Pro-tip: take your drinks to-go and stroll around Little Italy Mercato Farmer’s Market – happening every Wednesday from 9:30AM to 1:30PM and every Saturday from 8:00AM to 2:00PM. The Saturday market is San Diego’s largest, with stands housing local farmers, foodmakers and artisans that stretch six blocks on West Date Street from west of Kettner Blvd to Front Street.

Off to Seaport Village

📍 Downtown San Diego

Just a short distance away is one of my local favorites, Seaport! We jumped on some nearby electric scooters and off we were. On the Savorite app, you’ll find five fast-casual spots, all offering different cuisines from burgers to tacos, pad thai and everything in between. Our stomach’s were calling for seafood at Marion’s Fish Market and it was only right as Seaport is right alongside San Diego Bay! Fortunately for us, Marion’s Fish Market was offering 30% off on food and drinks so we decided to splurge on an order of clam chowder, a lobster roll and fish & chips – we saved nearly $13!

Other Savorite restaurants in Seaport include Tuk Tuk Eatery, Margarita’s Kitchen & Cantina, San Diego Burger Co. and Hi Poke.

Afternoon pick-me up at La Fresheria

📍 La Jolla

We were stuffed at this point, but were craving something refreshing so we decided to make our way over to La Jolla for our next stop at La Fresheria. We scored the last few deals available for free smoothies and brought them along with us to take in the sun and watch the sea lions at La Jolla Cove. At around $7 a smoothie, this deal is an absolute steal when you make a purchase of a wrap, torta or sandwich – which I’ll be saving for tomorrow’s lunch. I ordered the energy smoothie with fresh mango, pineapple, strawberry, spinach and coconut water and it totally hit the spot on this hot sunny day!

One last stop!

📍 Hillcrest

A day of eating in San Diego would not be complete without Mexican food. Our pick for the evening was Huapangos Mexican Cuisine in Hillcrest. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by the warmest of staff who sat us outside on their lovely patio. We started off with a round of margaritas as we munched on some free chips and salsa – winning! Soon after came our entrees, a massive California burrito, lobster enchiladas and an order of two grilled fish tacos to split. With the Savorite discount, we were able to save nearly $30 off our total bill!

A day full of eating and drinking can be costly, luckily, with the Savorite app we were able to save a total of $63! How could you not love this? It’s a sensational life hack and a must-have dining app for anyone that enjoys eating out. Now go grab your group of friends and stuff your faces – you’re most welcome!
